Hi Unique,
I already told you in April 2018 about a super cool Invisalign event in London and now it’s finally official: I’m part of the Invisalign #SmileSquad!
I am really happy to finally be able to inform you, because this project has been planned for a long time and now it’s really taking off. But what does that actually mean?
As a member of the #SmileSquad I will take you with me on every step of my Invisalign treatment. It will be an exciting path with many small steps and today we are already starting with step number 1! Are you ready? Well, I’m definitely ready.
My story before Invisalign
At the beginning of the year I already gave you a little insight into my very private and also emotional story before Invisalign. That’s exactly why this whole project is a real matter of heart for me.
Let’s go back to the beginning …
It was supposed to be a normal visit to the dentist for children – and yet things turned out quite differently. When no one came to me in the treatment room after the x-ray for a while, I slowly became restless. Actually, you think this one changing moment only exists in movies. But I should also experience such a moment! Of course without tragic music or slowmotion, but somehow significant and life-changing.
When the dentist finally came back to me, he told me that two of my “real” incisors were not attached. These teeth will – after the milk teeth – simply not grow and so my braces treatment would definitely become complicated.
So after my first loose braces I got a fixed one, then another fixed one followed and finally implants. Since the main goal of my braces so far has always been to create enough space for implants, my teeth are unfortunately not quite perfect today.
But then another moment of change came: Invisalign’s request for cooperation. Wow! However, this moment was changing in a completely different, much better way. Of course I had already heard of these “miracle braces”. But I didn’t know whether treatment would even be possible despite implants.
My first steps with Invisalign
Full of anticipation but also a little uncertain whether the treatment is something for me, I have chosen an Invisalign provider near me via the Invisalign website. Simply enter your postcode on the Invisalign website and all providers nearby will be displayed. I chose Dr. Julian Klos, who is not only super close to me, but also a experienced provider.
One quick call and I’ve made my first appointment. Wow! I put the phone down with a smile and look forward to the next day. Arrived at the stylish practice I am greeted friendly. After just a few minutes of waiting, I’m already my turn, even though I’m 15 minutes early because of all the excitement 😀
Dr. Klos takes a lot of time for me, explains everything in detail and takes away my biggest concern: possible problems with my implants. Everything is no problem at all – I have given a lot of thought to nothing once again 😉
After the preliminary talk, X-rays and photos are taken immediately. But the craziest thing is the Invisalign Scan. To do this, a scanner rod is guided along my teeth and at the same time I can see how a 3D model of my jaw is created on the computer. Okay, that’s really impressive and kind of creepy. 😀
So date number 1 was already over faster than expected.
You’re probably wondering what happened to that great scan, right? Well, this will be an absolute highlight in the next step 😉 Less than a week later I go back to Dr. Klos, who has now drawn up a treatment plan for me.
Treatment plan sounds boring at first… but in this case it is not at all. Based on the data from the last time, the so-called ClinCheck could already be created. This is a 3D treatment plan where you can see exactly which teeth move on which Invisalign braces. In contrast to fixed braces, you know in advance how the teeth will exactly look after the treatment. It is even possible to introduce individual change requests. I have to say, I felt a little bit like I was in the future 😀
And when I saw my new smile for the first time, yes, maybe there was already such a little joy tingling in my stomach 😉
But until this smile is actually mine, there are still some steps to go and you are welcome to accompany me. The actual treatment will begin very soon and I can’t tell you how much I’m looking forward to it!
