Hi Uniques,
The countdown runs, because in less than a week its Christmas. Although the next week is still full of examinations, I slowly get into Christmas mood. Today I wanted to show you my Christmas decoration.
Since I prefer minimalistic and modern style, there are now a few tips on how to combine the traditional and some new to transform your apartment into an absolute cool place;)
In addition, the decoration looks not only good, but is super simple and quickly finished. Christmas stress? No way!
The tree
The most important decoration element for Christmas is probably the tree. You have to go and search for a looong time. At the end you were on the way for hours and again haven’t found the perfect tree. Lots of time and money for a tree which is quite okay.
That’s why I bought an artificial white Christmas tree last year after Christmas. This is, of course, very modern. There are also “normal” green artificial trees. The only thing I miss is the smell.
To match the white tree, I’ve added white and black balls with lots of glitter. Again, after Christmas balls are really much cheaper and you can buy your next year decoration for half the price.
The balls here are mostly from Depot, but also from various other shops.
The Advent wreath
The second most important decoration is probably the Advent wreath, because what is more beautiful than every Sunday a candle to light? But also the matter with the wreath is such a thing … Of course you can buy a ready-made one, but it is never really the way I want it and does not fit perfectly to the tree. That is why I decided this year against a typical Advent wreath. Instead, I got myself a white Christmas base frame and decorated it with washitape. For the lower edge I chose a washi-tape with Love-lettering. For the top, I decided to use a pink glitter-washi-tape – because as you know, I can’t say no to pink or glitter;)
So that the shell does not look so empty I have filled it with black deco granules (Ikea). To make the whole thing even more Christmasy, I added a few mini Christmas tree balls in white and pink.
Finally, I decorated these beautiful candles with glitter figures.
So fast and easy its already finished, my Advent wreath;) In less than 10 minutes I have designed my perfect “wreath”, which fits perfectly with my remaining decoration.
Now there are two general, fast tips for your minimalistic decoration
1) The color selection
Choose only two to three colors. Since you know black and gray cannot really be called “color”, I have highlighted here and there pink color. The colors are also partially recovered by means of silver glitter elements.
As a small tip: Decide whether you combine rather warm colors with gold or cool colors with silver. I personally like the cool variation – if there is no snow outside, then I get the winter in the apartment this way: D
2) Less is more
Yes, this is probably the guiding principle of every minimalist, so it applies here as well. Decorate rather less and in selected places. This way, your apartment is not overloaded and you just highlight your favorite deco.
For even less Christmas stress there are now also a few gift tips.
1) Give away something homemade
I think it is always great to design and give as a gift and if it is only a particularly beautiful packaging. To create something by yourself does not always cost a lot of time but is a lot of fun;)
2) Give time away
Our time is precious and when we are honest, the time together with friends or family is always the best. So why do you not just give a voucher for a fun activity together?
3) Give away something useful
Now you definitely think that is exactly the problem. How can you know what the other really needs? Just ask for it
Even if it sounds a bit stupid at first, it’s better to ask, than simply to give something.
So now I wish you a wonderful week, hopefully completely without Christmas stress and with a lot of Christmas anticipation.
How do you decorate or do you decorate at all?
