Hi Uniques,
Pictures say more than 1000 words. Precisely! Especially as a blogger, images are simply a part of it. They are like a business card, because pictures do not just show fashion, make-up or jewelry. No, they also show a part of your personality. How do you edit your pictures? What location do you choose?
Since I have been asked more often, how I make my pictures, how I edit them and how a photo shooting actually runs in general, today comes finally my post about this matter
The photographer
If you do not want to stand with tripod and self-timer in the city, you need help. At home I work very often with my tripod and a remote, after all it is nicely warm and no one can knock over the tripod 😉
So now back to the topic. As you may have already seen, I link under my posts or Instagram pictures frequently dear Christian Habel. He has been my photographer for a couple of months and we are going to shoots regularly. Many have asked if I have to pay for my pictures every time. All my shootings are based on a so called TFP-Basis, this is a Time for Picture agreement. Both the photographer and the model may publish the pictures.
However, bloggers can take pictures together – this is of course also really funny. With a coffee afterwards to warm up, the Shooting makes even more fun;)
The location
Second after the photographer, the location is at the top of the list. Here in Munich there are really many great locations. Some of them are listed from Julia from Stylingliebe for you.
Especially in the winter, it is important to choose a wind-sheltered location so you will freeze a bit less. Depending on the day of the week you can also take pictures directly in the city.
The more different locations you know the better. So you can vary depending on the outfit, the weather and the desire. So if you’re on the road and you see a cool place, just write it down. Otherwise you might forget again, where exactly it was again – a pity about the location;)
Often you can also do some variations, because through different angles a place can look completely different. 😉
The shooting
The outfits are selected, the bags are packed, the photographer ready and the location chosen – let’s go!
A shoot can take 2-3 hours depending on the number of looks. I usually take 2-3 outfits with me, so I get through the next weekend without new pictures. So that I do not have to drag so much, I usually pack a small wheelie suitcase with all the outfits and take it with me. Well now you are definitely asking where I change outfits. The more often you shoot at a location, the better you know all the small hidden corners which are perfect for changing.
As a small tip for the winter: Always wear skin-colored tights and a skin-colored top. Wear several layers, so you won’t freeze even if you change. For example, I often wear a black long-sleeved shirt under my outfit;)
Also a hot tea for in between is definitely a good idea;)
Let your hair down!
No matter when you take pictures, people will always walk past you. Some look, some are talking to you and some are trying to ignore you. No matter what happens, try not to be distracted;) Believe me, sometimes it is not so easy: D At Esra from Nach Gestern ist Vor Morgen you will find the most impossible shooting situations.
Even if people look funny, you’ll get used to it. You always have to think: I would like to see anyone else do that. What you’re doing is cool and the pictures you get anyway;)
Try it out!
Try some new poses. This can be incredibly funny and sometimes lead to a great result. The pictures look funny? No problem! YOU can finally make an outtakes post;) Nothing ventured, nothing gained
The Editing
Finally back at home again, I can’t wait to see the new pictures. I click through once and write down all the picture numbers, which I agree with at first. Then I edit these pictures with a self-resolved filter in Lightroom. So I just have to make small adjustments to each picture. Only now I select the 5-7 pictures, which I really want to use. Believe me, editing can change a picture completely;)
Nevertheless, I try to edit my pictures as little as possible, after all, they should still look natural.
For Selfies, I work with the app Beautyplus 🙂
If you liked this post, I would be happy if you share it with your friends. So you can also help them to get better pictures 🙂
