Hi Unique,
Berlin Fashion Week 2017 is just around the corner. Tomorrow I’m already on my way to Berlin with full suitcases and great expectations. Yes, despite the many negative posts about the Fashion Week in January, I am more than curious. After all, the Berlin Fashion Week 2017 is not just another fashion week, no it is my very first!
Because this week is something pretty special for me, I want to share everything with you.
In this post I will not only tell you which shows, events and parties are waiting for me at the Berlin Fashion Week 2017, but I will also tell you how to get there.
I would have wished for such a post form my own preps, because if one had never been on a fashion week before, you really don‘t know where to start. So off we go with this not so glamorous Fashion Week preparations! 😉
The early bird catches the worm
Are you sure you want to go to Berlin Fashion Week 2017? Perfect, then you can start pretty early with the first preparations. Already 3 months before the Fashion Week I booked my flight and wrote some mails to different hotels in Berlin. So the flights are still quite cheap and the one or the other hotel still has space for a cooperation. 😉
Finally I’m going to stay at the newly renovated Hotel The Yard. I‘m already more than excited and looking forward to relaxing nights in the fluffy, soft bed;)
A highlight here is the new wellness area, which I will share with Lisa, for probably every free minute;)
Seek and you shall find
The first step is actually quite trivial, because in principle you have to find out which shows, side events and parties are taking place. On the one hand there is the official page, where you can find the upcoming events 2-3 weeks before the Fashion Week in a calender.
Maybe you are just like me and you think panically “What only 2-3 weeks? But this is on a very short notice “. So I took a look at the listed designers and started writing the first mails about 2 months ago. The answers to my mails were then somehow very similar: “Thank you for your interest in our show, we are still planning. Please contact us again in about one month.
So don’t panic, you have to stay calm here;)
The more often you visited the Fashion Week, the more invitations you get – once on the distribution list, always on the distribution list;)
Next to the official website with the calendar and the listed designers, you can also read in old blog posts, which events and shows other bloggers visited last year. The possibility that there are similar events at the Berlin Fashion Week 2017 is quite high;)
Tip your pretty fingers sore
You’ve certainly spent a couple of hours searching for cool events and related press contacts. But the actual work just begins, which means writing a lot of mails. It is best to start with a personal address and then you should tell why you would like to attend this event. Do not forget to mention a few words about yourself and your blog, so the mail gets a personal touch. After your farewell, you should include an e-mail signature that includes all your social media profiles.
This way the “customer” can take a look at everything, even if it’s not likely. Usally no time remains for this matter. Nevertheless, it makes a professional impression.
A little tip: Especially if you are going to the Fashion Week for the first time, you should not choose just three designers, whom you write an email. If you’re looking for more shows, you’ll never be bored at the end. Of course, you should still like all the designers, but also you should already write your second and third choice right away.
Lean back and wait
Now you will know why you should write to a lot of designers just at the beginning and why you should not wait for a confirmation of your first choice: the answer takes time! Yes, mostly the answers will take 1-2 weeks, and if you remember the first section, you will quickly notice that only a week is left to write new mails. In addition, there is not that much space left.;)
Relaxed waiting? Probably also way from it, because while you wait for the answers there is still a lot of work left. In addition to the outfit planning, you urgently need a hotel and a flight or a train by now.
Tidy mind is half the battle
Finally, you recived the first feedbacks. Excellent! Transfere it all into your calendar, so you keep an overview. Don’t just write down the event name, but also time, place and, for example, the motto.
This not only makes the scheduling, but also the outfitting easier.
So that’s it. Not particularly glamorous, but very instructive;)
My plan for the Berlin Fashion Week 2017
Monday | First of all enjoying my arrival in the great hotel The YARD. My Fashion Week programm starts in the evening with the Hashmag Blogger Award. |
Tuesday | After the show of Ewa Herzog, we are going to the fashion blogger Cafe by Styleranking. In the evening, it’s time to go to the Beautylounge by Reichertplus for the one or the other beauty treatment. |
Wednesday | Wednesday starts with a delicious breakfast at the Instyle Brunch. After the following Instyle Lounge, the show of Rebeka Ruetz and Maisonee takes place. In the evening we see the show of Holy Ghost and then go to the AA Collected Party. |
Thursday | This day is informative, because we start with a workshop of Hashtaglove about the topic of SEO. Then we go to the festival event of Hashmag. Finally we finish the day with our last show of Steinrohner and a visit the Premium Fair. |
Friday | The Fashion Week is unfortunately already over and it is time to pack my stuff again. But I‘m not on my way home. Instead, I fly to Cologne to visit the Beautypress event and spend a wonderful night at the BURNS Art Fair and More Hotel. |
Do I see you at the Berlin Fashion Week 2017? If yes, which events, shows and parties do you visit?
