Fragrances* or how to find Mr. Right

Today it’s all about fragrances. Who wants to smell after sweat? Of course sometimes it is unavoidable such as during sports, but deodorant helps here if used before. But of course we also want others to smell good. Who doesn’t know the situation when you sit in the train after a long day next to another person and you simply hate his guts…

But what is the saying “Ich kann dich gut riechen” all about? Directly translated it would be “I can smell you well”. This phrase actually means that you like someone.

For many animals the smell is quite important to choose the right partner. Equally also the smell of a human being influences, if we find somebody sympathetic or not. This especially works by our partner selection.

Do I have always to spray myself with extra perfume so I won’t miss Mr. Right ??

No, of course not. The scent which is meant here is mostly our own smell. This is different for each person and surrounds us in a radius of about 2 meters. Our odour is based on a genetic basis. Unconsciously we look for a partner who perfectly fits to our own genetic profile and so the chances of children with a good immune system increase.

Well so fast you can take away some romance of love. Of course, the smell plays only a minor role, but it’s a bit scary that we subconsciously already know if someone is genetically Mr. Right.

So I think I’ll probably continue to rely on my feelings 😉
