Hi Uniques,
I really can’t await summer !! The best way would be to skip the spring – what do you mean? So much for patience. : P
After my post about Singapore which a lot of you liked a lot, today comes a post about Bali. If the sun is not coming to me, I’m going to catch it.
Bali is an island that should stand on every bucket list. No matter if you are an action hero, a sun worshipper or a cultural spirit – Bali has something to offer for everyone. For the perfect blend of dreamlike golden beaches with turquoise colored water and unbelievable nature, the almost 16-hour flight is definitely worthwhile.
And action – Bali vacation for Active
# Scooter driving
Bali’s streets are full, but not with cars but with scooters. Everyone has one here and when I say everyone, I mean everyone. Even the children are already drifting through the area. Driving license? What’s this?! Helmets are an absolute foreign word. In addition you have the change to the left-hand traffic. So Scooter riding is only for the brave ones. 😉
The courage is, however, rewarded, because this way you can learn about Bali quite differently. Far away from the great streets and touristic districts, a completely different original face appears.
# Down into the water
The island offers not only fantastic beaches, but also a great sea. Only swimming might be dull. How about surfing? Do not worry, no matter if you are a beginner or advanced, whether it’s small or big waves – there is the perfect beach for every level. In addition, there are several surf schools on the beaches and so it will work very fast
If this is too exhausting, you can go jet skiing at moderate prices. White-water rafting tours are also offered.
The Indian Ocean is an excellent place to dive. Most divers are located in the North or East of the island.
# Elephant riding
An experience that can be done mainly in Thailand. We were also riding on elephants. It was really great. Nevertheless, I would not recommend it there, because the animals had some wounds and were often pricked with the elephant stick, even though we had us previously informed about the attitude in the Internet, and had trusted the reviews. The best thing to do is to ask a taxi driver / guide and do not book the trip through the hotel. In principle it is really a crazy feeling to sit on such a large elephant: O
Just Relaxe – Bali vacation for relaxing
# Summer sun beach
Take the sun cream, because the beaches are an absolute dream! The sand is golden and the water turquoise. Here you can relax perfectly. Most of the hotels also have large swimming pools, which stretch through the whole area. So you are in spite of the size of the hotel mostly undisturbed – how could you relax better? You only need a delicious cocktail, a smoothie or an ice cream to feel perfect. .
# Enjoy massages
If you’re a massage lover like me, you’ll love Bali! I have never had a better massage and this so cheap! For a whole hour I paid only 15,- euros. In the hotels massages are naturally expensive, but in the several malls these cheap massages are offered. You are not massaged on the beach – but it is still very relaxing;)
# To do yoga
Yoga is widely spread in Bali and is widely practiced in Ubud. If you want to have a relaxing time between the sun bathing, you should definitely participate in a yoga class. Many hotels offer them inclusively;)
Know it – Bali vacation for those interested in Culture
# Visit the temple
If there is a thing in abundance, then that is probably the temple. No matter where you travel, you can see a temple every other mile. You have to choose which one you want to visit. I especially recommend the Tanah Loh Temple. This temple stands on a natural stone bridge in the sea. A breathtaking sight as the water whips up the stones.
You will find a more traditional temple in the middle of the jungle. This makes the temple Pura Luhur Batukau very special again.
# Visit the rice fields
Rice is one of the most important foods on the island. Of course, the fields already have some degree of recognition, so there are some spots that are very crowded. However, if you want to get an original impression, ask the taxi driver/guide – he often has some insider tips. We were lucky to get a private cross-country tour from an old rice worker. This was really adventurous;)
# Bold monkeys everywhere
Monkeys are sacred in Bali, especially the macaques. That’s why there is a whole monkey park in Ubud. But be careful. The monkeys are greedy and are constantly trying to get food, no matter what. Do not let the begging, screaming, and threatening impress you and better leave your food in the backpack, so the temptation to “rob” you won’t occur for them.
Bali tips for all
# Taxi cab
If the scooter is too dangerous, the taxi is a good choice. Taxis are not only quite cheap, but also very practical. As mentioned above, most taxi drivers are far more than just drivers. They are, so to speak, the very personal guide, and if you are lucky, they show you places that not so many tourists see.
# Eat good
Of course you can book half board in your hotel, however it is comparatively expensive. Look at the Internet before, if there is a mall or restaurants in your area. There you get not only cheap, but also super delicious local dishes. We went every evening to an open air mall in Nusa Dua, which was only about a 10 minute walk from our hotel. Small tip: Try the soups, which are just so yummy!
# Treat yourself
Bali is perfect for a luxury holiday. As you may have noticed, the price-performance ratio is still right. Just like the massages and the food, you can also afford great luxury hotels with comparatively little budget. So just treat yourself and enjoy your time in Bali.
As you see, there really is something for everyone or what do you mean? Have you ever been to Bali?
You can’t wait to spend your holiday in Bali? Then, you should feed your companion already subtly with hints and share this contribution with her.
